Marikina to hold Reading Week
The city government of Marikina, through the City Library, will launch a Reading Week dubbed “We are a reading city! Maki-READ-na!” on June 30.
Mayor Marides Fernando said the event is part of her administration’s vision of creating a “city of readers.”
“We believe in the power of reading to transform lives. It’s a power we particularly want to give our young children to jumpstart their knowledge-driven journey,” she added.

Mayor MCF leads info drive vs. breast cancer
Women living in Marikina City can now avail themselves of free testing for breast cancer, part of the first community-based awareness campaign which aims to reduce the increasing number of cases in the Philippines.
Dubbed “Ating Dibdibin,” the program was launched on June 6 by the city government led by Mayor Marides Fernando, breast cancer advocacy group ICanServe Foundation, and pharmaceutical company Pfizer.

Nestlé, Marikina push for healthy breakfast
Nestlé Philippines and the city government of Marikina, through the City Health Office, held “Bongga Ka, ’Nay” on June 6 at the Marikina Sports Park.
With the theme, “Hatid Sigla’t Sustansya sa Umaga,” the event aimed to promote healthy breakfast. It was hosted by TV personality and healthy breakfast advocate Ruby Rodriguez.
