Called People’s Mall, the introduction of the program has improved the competitiveness of the market stall holders against supermarkets and groceries as they are able to meet public demand for order, cleanliness and convenience. It also offers the then sidewalk vendors and the rest of the populace the opportunity to engage in commercial activity in a legitimate way.
With the strict enforcement of laws on sanitational hygience, Marikina Public Market is widely acknowledged as malinis, ligtas at walang daya. No less that the Department of Health and National Consumers Affairs Council had conferned upon it the recognition as the Best Public Market in the National Capital Region and in the Philippines in 1998.
Operations :
• 24 hrs (Monday-Sunday)
• Flushing Operation (3 times a week)
• Garbage Collection (every 2-3 hrs.)
• Insecticide spraying (2 times a month)
• Weights Monitoring (once a week)
