Marikina Mayor Del De Guzman invites everyone to come and join in the staging of Marikina City’s Horror Week 2011 from October 24 to 30 at the Plaza de los Alcaldes, Marikina City Hall Compound. Themed “Katakut-takot na Katatakutan-Ikalawang Yugto”, Horror Week features different activities where everyone can participate like the Halloween Costume Parade, Freaky Dance Craze, and the Fright Night. The Halloween Costume Parade is the highlight of the celebration, which will be held on October 28 at the Freedom Park. The contest has categories “Supernatural/Scary”, “Bloody/gory”, and “Futuristic/Alien/Fantasy”, where kids, adults and groups can participate. The weeklong activities feature Fight Night where free showing of famous horror films will be held starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Plaza de los Alcaldes. This will be shortly followed by the Freaky Dance Craze (a monstrous and ‘spook-tacular’ horror dance contest) which shall be participated by a group with 7 to 10 members showcasing their dancing skills in horrifying/scary attire and music. “We will continuously make programs for the Halloween so our residents can have fun and enjoy during this season,” De Guzman said. The Horror Week is prelude to the Marikina Christmas celebration dubbed “Dito Exciting Lagi ang Pasko 2″ which the city will be holding from October 24, 2011 to January 15, 2012.
