Mayor Marcy Teodoro takes another big stride in making Marikina City an ideal place to live, visit and do business with by improving the Marikina City Hall, which is not only the seat of power but also the pride of every Marikeño.

“Paano natin makukumbinse ang ating mga kababayan sa mga pagbabagong ating isinusulong kung mismo ang Marikina City Hall ay binabaha, magulo at hindi na napapanahon ang disenyo?” Mayor Marcy said.

(How can we convince our fellow Marikenos about the changes that we are advocating if the Marikina City Hall in itself is vulnerable to flooding, chaotic and the design is no longer fit for the modern times?)

Among the improvements that will be undertaken in the City Hall include enhancing its exteriors and refurbishing its interiors.

A makeover of the City Hall is also important to impress upon the businessmen and investors who plan to do business in Marikina that the City Hall means business and is being run smoothly just by looking into its well-appointed and orderly structure.

One of the programs of Mayor Marcy’s administration is to attract more businessmen and investors to put up business establishments in Marikina to spur the local economy, provide more jobs and to increase the tax collection of the local government that will be used in providing for the welfare and the needs of the Marikeño.

The improvement of the City Hall follows the recent makeover of the Freedom Park, which was elevated and the drainage system was enhanced to avoid flooding during heavy rains. The streets around the Freedom Park, located right across the City Hall, and the City Hall -- McDonald’s Ave., Jacamar and Chanyungo Sts. -- were also widened to speed up the flow of traffic and avoid traffic jams especially during rush hours.

The Marikina Sports Complex, another iconic structure in the city, is also undergoing a facelift.
