After the newly-constructed People’s Park was opened to the public last week, Mayor Marcy Teodoro plans to build another park in Brgy. San Roque.

Mayor Marcy wants to give Marikeños more breathing spaces where they can relax and enjoy with their family and friends. This is the reason why his administration plans to build more modern parks that would serve as places for recreation, relaxation and other leisure activities for Marikeños.

Built right next to the newly-renovated Freedom Park, the People’s Park is located just across the Marikina City Hall and has similar modern style to the Freedom Park, with lush narra trees to serve as a shed to park goers, mostly senior citizens, office workers, students – who are either doing their homework, spending time with their friends, practicing some dance steps.

“Minsan ko lang dadaanan ang pagka-Mayor ng Marikina. Gagawin ko na ang pinakamagaling kong paglilingkod sa ating mga kababayan,” Mayor Marcy said, who was at the site of the planned San Roque People’s Park last Saturday.

The City Government of Marikina plans to put the Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor War Memorial, used to be housed at the Freedom Park, to the newly-constructed People’s Park. The bust of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, previously located in front of the City Hall near the Public Safety Center (former post office), would also be transferred to the People’s Park.

More parks will be constructed in other communities in Marikina City under the term of Mayor Marcy.
