The City Government of Marikina under the leadership of Mayor Marcy Teodoro is undertaking more public works such as the renovation of the City Hall, widening of roads and clearing up a drainage to ease traffic congestion and minimize flooding in the city during rainy season.

Mayor Marcy even stayed until evening the other day as he supervised the ongoing renovation of the City Hall to make it more presentable to Marikeños and attract more visitors, businessmen and investors to Marikina. The good Mayor believes that keeping Marikina City clean and orderly starts with the City Hall and its surroundings.

“Paano natin maisasaayos ang buong Marikina kung ang mismong Marikina City Hall at ang paligid nito ay magulo at hindi maayos,” Mayor Marcy told City Hall employees.

The City Government is also undertaking widening of the streets near and around the City Hall including Chanyungco, Jacamar and Toyota Avenue. A loading bay at Marikina Polytechnic College along Changyungco St. is also being constructed.

Meanwhile, City Hall workers yesterday removed dirt, trash and mire that clogged the drainage along Lilac and Oliveros Sts. They used heavy equipment to speed up the work and avoid causing traffic. The said drainage flows into Balanti Creek in Brgy. Sto. Niño, thus, clearing it up would help address flooding around the area.
