Kapitan Moy, the historic landmark on J.P. Rizal Street in Brgy. Sta. Elena, reopened this week and is now available for hosting special events and occasions.

The two-storey building, which used to be the residence of the father of Marikina’s shoe industry, Don Laureano “Kapitan Moy” Guevara, the prime mover behind the creation of the first ever pair of shoes made in Marikina. That paved the way for the birth of the shoe industry that contributed so much to Marikina’s economy, culture and heritage.

Kapitan Moy was closed for renovation in October after its roof was damaged by a tornado middle of September, just hours before typhoon “Ompong” made a landfall in the country. As a result, all events that have been previously booked particularly on the Bulwagang Bayani at the second floor were cancelled.

For booking and reservation, please call the Marikina Tourism Office at telephone number 646-1823.
