The Local Government of Marikina cleaned and cleared clogged drainages to prevent floods and allow proper flow of the sewage system.

City Hall employees yesterday removed dirt, trash and lumps of grease from used cooking oil that were blocking the sewers.

To prevent used cooking oil from blocking the drainages in the future, the City Hall has started collecting used cooking oil from households. The used cooking oil is mixed and melted down to make paving blocks.

A sample of these blocks that used the collected used cooking oil from households can be seen in front of the Kapitan Moy building in Brgy. San Roque.
