Marikina shoemakers continue to draw the interest of shoe entrepreneurs – both based in the country and abroad – who are looking for manufacturers of high-quality and affordable footwear products.

These entrepreneurs visited the Marikina Shoe Industry Development Office (MASIDO), who helped them find manufacturers and even gave them some advice about the shoe industry and going into the shoe business.

Jari Bystrom and his wife, Alma, a Filipina, recently visited the MASIDO office for its business matching program. The Finland-based couple was looking for manufacturers of orthopedic shoes in Marikina.

Jane Cometa, who used to work as a sales manager for a high-end leather goods brand, also dropped by the MASIDO office and sought its help in finding a bag manufacturer. MASIDO referred Jane, who plans to start her own bag retail brand, to John Leonard Bautista who makes bags and owns RawHide Leather Exclusive.

Another entrepreneur Erika So, who wanted to start her own footwear brand and sell shoes online, asked MASIDO for advice on how to start her own shoe business. MASIDO gave Erika a glimpse of the shoe industry and how to put up her own shoe brand under its assistance for business matching and counseling program.

MASIDO, whose primary task is to oversee the growth of Marikina’s shoe industry, is headed by Noel Box, with Cla Martinez Badong as a consultant.
