Marikina shoemakers successfully held a two-week “Back to School” bazaar in Muntinlupa, a joint project between the local governments of Marikina and Muntinlupa.

From May 29 to June 10, shoes made in Marikina were sold at discounted prices in three venues in Muntinlupa – the City Quadrangle, Sports Center and the Sucat People’s Park. The fair was so successful that another one is now being planned for November, said Noel Box, chief of the Marikina Shoe Industry Development Office (MASIDO).

It was the second time this year that Marikina shoemakers sold shoes in Muntinlupa. A shoe bazaar was also held in January this year.

Meanwhile, another back to school fair selling shoes and bags held in Marikina also ended on Sunday, June 17. The bazaar, featuring leather goods made in Marikina, was extended for seven days from June 10 after a request from parents who wanted to avail of affordable shoes for their children that they can use for this coming school year.
