Mayor Marcy Teodoro is hoping that more stores in Marikina will join the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) “Suking Tindahan” program that aims to encourage retailers and wholesalers to sell their goods based on the suggested retail prices (SRP) so that they will stay affordable to the consumers.

Mayor Marcy said the program would greatly benefit the stores because by selling goods based on the DTI’s SRP, more consumers will be attracted to patronize them. The program will also be beneficial to consumers, he added.

Mayor Marcy and Secretary Lopez launched the“Suking Tindahan” program last week at the Marikina Public Market. So far, three stores inside the market – Francing Store, Lacson Grocery and Noel and Jenny Store – joined the program and were given the DTI’s Suking Tindahan seal, prominently displayed in their stalls.

Under the program, stores can purchase consumer goods directly from the manufacturers and acquire them at factory prices. This way, they can pass on these goods at cheaper prices or within the SRP of the DTI. Joining the program is voluntary.

The DTI plans to roll out the project throughout the country.
