Miss Marikina Candidates Shine at Talent Competition

From singing and dancing to monologues and blindfold drawing, the candidates of Miss Marikina showcased their skills and talents in the Miss Marikina 2018 talent competition held at the Marikina City Hall Quadrangle yesterday, November 11.


The talent competition is part of the preliminary activities ahead of the grand coronation night on December 15.


The candidates were introduced along with the barangay they represent. Their hobbies and advocacy were flashed on the big screen as they performed on stage.

Performances included singing; cultural, interpretative, modern, belly and ballroom dancing; gymnastics, monologue, piano and hula hoop exhibition. Some performances that received the loudest cheers from the audience were the magical acts from Ma. Angelica Reyes representing Brgy. Concepcion Uno; interpretation of mother nature through charcoal art from Jasmine Mangahas of Brgy. Parang; and blindfold drawing of a mother and child from Julienne Rariza of Brgy. Kalumpang.

Some candidates interviewed after the presentation were happy it went well after gruelling practices.


“Fulfilling kasi after hard practices, we were able to execute our talents,” said Joan Anonuevo of Brgy. Concepcion Uno, who was wearing a gold sequenced dress as she did an interpretative dance with a male partner.


The judges were Rep. Eugene De Vera; Erico Habijan, president of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina (PLMar); Lito Rivera, chairman of the board of trustees of PLMar; Jeffrey Trinidad, principal of Sta. Elena High School; and Bhinky Sarajan-Reyes, owner of the Voice Academy of the Philippines.

The winner of Miss Marikina 2018 talent competition will be announced on the coronation night on December 15. Results from the talent competition will be added to the overall scoring in determining the Miss Marikina 2018 winners.
