The planned Marikina City Philippine National Police (PNP)  headquarters broke ground yesterday in Brgy. Fortune.

Mayor Marcy Teodoro led the ground breaking ceremony that was attended by Undersecretary Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, Police Director General Oscar Albayalde, Police Director Guillermo Eleazar, Police Senior Supt. Bernabe Balba and Police Senior Supt. Roger Quezada.

The eight-storey building will be constructed along Fortune Avenue right beside the now under construction Rescue 161/DRRM (Disaster Risk Reduction and Management) offices.

Since he was elected two years ago, Mayor Marcy has been supportive of the Marikina PNP because of its contribution in strengthening the city’s peace and order situation -- one of his administration’s top priorities. Mayor Marcy has procured new police patrol cars, arms and ammunitions and provided logistical support for the PNP.

Last Sunday, September 9, Mayor Marcy and the City Government of Marikina paid tribute to the men and women of the police force who gave up their lives in the service of the country during the 31st Marikina Police Memorial Day held at the Marikina Police Memorial Monument inside the Loyola Memorial Park.
